£200 needed for a washing machine
A rental company removed our client's washing machine as they were no longer providing this facility. A lives off Universal Credit and is a regular at our community café. He shared how he is having to make a choice of whether to buy food or wash clothes. Having no clean clothes is having a negative effect on his mental health, as A does not feel he is able to go out and feels judged when he does go out in his dirty clothes.
£200 needed for a cooker
D and his partner were left homeless and have spent time on the streets and in temporary accommodation. They have now secured a new flat, but it is largely unfurnished. They have been sleeping on the floor, which is exacerbating a back condition that D's partner has, and the cooker in the flat has been condemned and cannot be used. We've managed to source a bed for them, but your support to replace the cooker would make a huge difference to them, meaning they could cook and eat properly.
£200 needed for a cooker
M fled domestic violence and has secured a social tenancy flat of her own. Following the domestic violence, she suffers from poor physical and mental health which impacts her ability to hold down a job. This means M has a very low income and isn't able to afford to furnish her new flat. Her most urgent need is for a cooker so that she can cook and eat properly. This will improve her daily life, helping her to recover her physical and mental health.
£200 needed for a washing machine
S has recently arrived in the UK on a spouse visa. Despite securing accommodation, she lacks essential household appliances and urgently requires a washing machine. S is ineligible for public funds and her partner is in low income. Compounded by his inability to work, due to a stroke, this leaves them financially strained. Your assistance in acquiring a washing machine would greatly alleviate their hardship and improve their quality of life.
£150 needed for food and energy bills
B is a twenty three year old care leaver who has special needs. He has recently received a sanction from Universal credit, leaving him with £61 to live on for the rest of the month. Your donation will help him to purchase food and pay for his gas and electricity.
£150 needed for five driving lessons
H is a young man who suffers from post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). He came to us with debts of around £5K which occurred when he was being moved from one property to another. He is now debt free, thanks to a Debt Relief Order. H has been working with his work coach towards returning to employment. He was given some money for driving lessons to enable him to look for work in a wider area, but needs a few more lessons before he re-takes his test. £150 would purchase five lessons for him so he has the best chance of passing his next test.
£200 needed for curtains
This family have fled domestic abuse and are living in a bare property. They need curtains for all six windows, as they are frightened people can see in, and worry they might be found and watched by their abuser. Curtains would give privacy and security, plus retain the warmth keeping out drafts. They are having to start again so £200 would help buy curtains and poles.
£150 needed for a fridge freezer
K is a trained nurse who came to the UK from India on a sponsored work project. She is working in the care sector until she has training updates. We are helping her to furnish her flat, as she makes a fresh start in unfurnished accommodation, where the family has recently moved into. Our community has come together to support K in her determination to make a home for her family. She has urgent need of a fridge freezer and would be grateful for help to buy this for her new home.
£185 needed for a washing machine
N has severe mental health issues as well as epilepsy, and is struggling to attend his Job Centre appointments, as the anxiety is crippling him. He has been sanctioned, as a result of this, for a few months and is without any income. We are helping him practically, but he has no money for a laundrette and it would make so much difference to him if we were able to get him a washing machine. Please could you help us with this? Thank you!
