£200 needed for a washing machine
This couple, who have a complex array of disabilities and medical conditions, are unable to work and are dependent on benefits. A decision on Personal Independence Payment entitlement is awaited. This couple have to travel over thirty miles by public transport to get to specialist hospitals for treatment. They are paying off rent arrears, have limited financial resources and we have provided Food Bank support. They need a washing machine and, with your kind donations, we want to help them.
£200 needed for an electric cooker
R has been living in shared accommodation for over seven years after splitting from his family. This was problematic, as his ten year old son could never stay with him, due to the risk posed by the other tenants. R has now been given his first home by Birmingham City Council, which means he can have his son to stay with him at weekends. However, he does not have a cooker. R would like to apply for donations from Acts 435 to buy a cooker so that he can cook meals for himself and his son, when he stays.
£200 needed for a washing machine
H has just received temporary accommodation from Birmingham City Council, after spending years in various hostels. She has an eight year old child and is in the process of applying for leave to remain under the immigration service. This is being supported by the local Children's Authority. H has been given a flat which is partially furnished, but does not have a washing machine. We would be really grateful if Acts 435 could fund a washing machine for her.
£200 needed for a fridge freezer
Our client was living with his family until August 2022 when the relationship broke down. He then slept on the sofa at his brother's house, but after his brother died, he was asked to leave. Our client began riding the 53 bus and was picked up by Streetlink at Elephant and Castle. He was taken to St Mungo's and then put in temporary accommodation by Lewisham's rough sleepers team. Our client has finally been placed in permanent housing and would be so grateful for a fridge freezer, which he cannot afford as he is on Universal Credit.
£200 needed for electric and gas bills
O is a single mother who has a disabled son and they recently travelled to another city for specialised medical care. While her son is recovering from the surgery, the family is facing financial strain as they solely rely on benefits and most of their resources have been allocated to medical expenses. Your support with electric and gas bills would provide much needed relief to this resilient family, allowing O to focus on her son's recovery without the added burden of financial worry.
£200 needed for carpet fitting
This young woman recently obtained a council flat and the existing floor coverings are effectively non-existent. She was made redundant before Christmas and is trying to find full-time employment, but has only currently managed to find part-time work and has a benefit claim pending. Whilst floor coverings are being supplied to her, this young woman cannot afford to have them fitted. Your help in funding this would make a huge difference to her and transform where she lives. Thank you.
£110 needed for food, electric and gas
H is a single man who struggles with anxiety and depression and, as a result, is unable to find employment. He has found himself struggling with his finances at the moment, in particular his gas, electric and food, but his only source of income is Universal Credit. If you are able to help H to financially get through this current situation, he will be so grateful. Thank you so much.
£200 needed for a washing machine
F and her husband were asylum seekers who have recently been granted leave to remain. This means they have to leave their temporary accommodation immediately. They have secured a Social Housing flat, but it is unfurnished. F and her husband have been supported with a bed and cooker, but there is no washing machine. F has extreme obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) so not being able to keep her clothes and bedding clean is particularly difficult. As asylum seekers, they weren't allowed to work, so they have very little financially.
£200 needed for a fridge freezer
M was homeless following significant trauma which led to an alcohol addiction. She has been supported into accommodation, has been alcohol free for six months, and started volunteering at a local community project. M is shortly going back into education to work towards becoming a support worker. Her flat doesn't have a fridge freezer and she has a low income so can't afford one. Your support would mean M could store food safely, enabling her to shop and eat more healthily and affordably.
